The Ramblers Association now have a greatly improved website which is an exceptional rescource for all walkers, hykers and young families wanting to go for walks with young children. This site lists everything from historical walks to guided walks and really audious walks.

Find A Walk Near Me by Walking Britain is a truly excellent and free resource. Just enter where you are or where you would like to walk - and print out directions. The walks are graded and you can buy a specific map of the area at the same time. These are proper OS maps and weather proofed if required.

I always think of walking as one of the few activities you can do for free - and now you can with this guide!

A great choice of stuff and all at good prices, very pleasant and helpful staff...Well worth a visit..

I've bought a lot of furniture from Grampian Furnishers over the years and the service is always 1st class. Friendly, knowledgable staff providing top quality products!

Outfit Moray

15 Shore St, Lossiemouth IV31 6PB, UK – 01343 549571

Thoroughly impressed with Outfit Moray's professionalism and work ethic through their support of our annual 100km hike and bike duathlon since 2015. Great charity, supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged Moray children too.

Another good one. Walkingworld has huge library of guides with a good selection of walks, of varying lengths and grades, pretty well anywhere in the country. The walks come in an excellent format making them very easy to follow, with photographs to illustrate every important decision point and a proper Ordnance Survey map.

A modist annual subscription gives you unlimited access to all the walks. However you can Pay As Go by downloading indiviual walks..

Camping and Caravaning

Silver Sands Camping & Caravan Holidays Moray Firth

Covesea West Beach, Lossiemouth IV31 6SP, UK – 01343 813262

Actually at THE BEST time here. Love that they welcome dogs. There was 4 adults in our caravan and it was the perfect space for us all. 2 toilets ๐Ÿ‘Œ The beach is amazing, playing Bingo was good craic. The only down fall is, us lot all love a wee game on the arcades, 2 machines swallowed our money, the Basket Ball game was not on. The change machine did not work. One of the machines said "Insert 2p" when it was actually 5p to play. Just needs a wee update guys. Otherwise spot on place to go for a wee break ๐Ÿ‘

Although this site has changed hands several times, we have never had a bad holiday there. We are avid fast jet watchers and equally as avid fishermen. Loads to do nearby, whether it's golf, birdwatching, historical interest and sea life watching. With the local amenities in Lossiemouth, bigger shops in Elgin, it's a home from home.

Lossiemouth Bay Caravan Park

2006 East Beach, Lossiemouth IV31 6NW, UK – 01343 813980

Excellent first class has everything on the site a family could need and superb access to some of the best Silver Sands Scotland has to offer.

Fantastic caravan site! Near beach/play areas/ local shops/restaurants and pubs. Great place for family holiday or peaceful retreat!

Skerry Brae

Stotfield Rd, Lossiemouth IV31 6QS, UK – 01343 812040

Skerry Brae was, overall, a delight. The staff were all courteous and attentive even while wearing multiple hats. For example, when we arrived, there was no one at the reception desk, but within a minute someone was rushing out from the bar to assist us. Perhaps this means it might get too hectic and service would have declined if they had been busier; I can only speculate. They were not too busy during our stay, and the service at reception, the bar, and at the breakfast table, was fine. The room was clean enough, and had a very pleasant ocean view overlooking a few golf fairways which made for good people- (and critter-) watching. It was a room I actually enjoyed sitting in. There were, however, some mold issues in the bathroom along the ceiling line. Also, nearly every window was spattered with bird excrement, in our room and also in the lounge/bar. Perhaps this adds to the rustic charm. Perhaps not. The carpets and furniture in the room were all dilapidated and dated, and the locks on the room doors were flimsy and not reinforced by chain or deadbolt. The twin beds were hard and lumpy, although the larger bed was soft and had a memory foam mattress. It is clear they need to hire a window washer, upgrade the bathroom fans, scrub and put on a coat of mold-resistant bathroom paint every year, and work toward replacing some of the furniture and carpeting over time. However, I loved the vibe here and would absolutely book Skerry Brae again in spite of its shortcomings.

Went to the Skerry for dinner. Great service from staff and a great choice of filling, pub food. Perched above the West Beach it has stunning coastal views - perfect place to enjoy a sunset. Child friendly and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend.
