About RAF Lossiemouth RAF Lossiemouth is the largest and busiest fast-jet base in the Royal Air Force and home to the RAF Lossiemouth Tornado Wing comprising Nos 12, 14, 617 and XV (R) Squadrons, 5 Force Protection Headquarters comprising Nos 51 Squadron RAF Regiment and 2622 (Highland) Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force Regiment and the Search and Rescue helicopters of ‘D’ Flight, 202 Squadron.
The majority of quarters are situated in the City and Royal Burgh of Elgin, situated 6 miles south of Lossiemouth. Elgin has many amenities, which include Scotlands oldest independent Museum, Library, a Leisure Centre with swimming pool/ice rink, and in Cooper Park, one of the most beautiful parks in Scotland. Elgin is the main shopping centre for the area.
RAF Lossiemouth has its own station gym and has fantastic facilities for service personnel and dependants. The Station Medical and Dental Centre is within the wire.
